Thunder in the Valley Announces Air Show Will Cease Operations
21-Year Run Nets More Than $1 Million in Donations to Youth Organizations
Columbus, Ga., May 4, 2018 – Today, the Board of Directors of Thunder in the Valley Air Show, Inc. announces the air show held in April of this year will be the final Air Show for the organization. The Thunder in the Valley Air Show office will remain open for the time being to finalize closing out the event held in April.
“During its 21 years of operation, Thunder in the Valley Air Show will have donated more than $1,000,000 back to Chattahoochee Valley youth organizations and charities”, says Phaedra Childers, event coordinator. “Air Show entertainment is getting more expensive and it’s getting harder to raise sponsorship money. We feel the air show competes with many other events for the same patrons’ time and money, as well as corporate sponsorship dollars. We’ve had great success for 21 years, and we believe the time is right to bring the show to an end.”
Beneficiaries of the 2018 Thunder in the Valley Air Show will be announced later in the year for the remaining funds.
The planning committee for the Thunder in the Valley Air Show is grateful for the support of our fans, sponsors, media partners, vendors, exhibitors, volunteers and entertainers. The committee is hopeful the community will continue to think about and support the many children’s charities and youth organizations throughout the Chattahoochee Valley.
